Rory McIlroy’s victory at Quail Hollow can be attributed to one thing: His hair

leave a comment »

Call me crazy, but I agree with Sports Illustrated’s senior editor, Jim Gorant, and his hilarious reasoning behind Rory McIlroy’s recent resurgence on the golf scene.

As Gorant noted in this week’s edition of SI’s PGA Tour Confidential, McIlroy can attribute his success to his long locks. “The hair. Definitely the hair,” Gorant said. “Lost his mojo after he cut, but it’s back, and so is he.”

Could Rory’s early season issues be attributed to his decision to cut his hair before the start of the season? It’s sounds silly at first, but maybe Gorant has a point. Let’s go to the photos to see if his comments hold any water. Read the rest of this entry »

Left and right-handed golf balls bring a whole new meaning to the term ‘fore right’

with 6 comments

We’ve all seen it a million times before on those golf infomercials that come on the Golf Channel around 2 am each night. An item pops up on the screen claiming it can take you from a weekend hacker to a 5 handicap with one simple payment of $105.99 (plus tax, of course).

You buy the training aid and promptly find out that the guy who was selling the item hard on the television is full of crap. The item was a complete waste of time and money. We’ve all been there before. It doesn’t matter how many times you watch those infomercials, there’s always one that looks appealing enough to sucker you into buying it.

Just like the infomercials on the tube, I tend to get a similar number of “press releases” in my inbox each day touting items that are supposed to turn you into Tiger Woods. Now I’ve become accustomed to glancing at these things for 3 second before clicking the delete button, but sometimes an item comes along that just catches your attention for being so absurd, well, you just have to tell everyone else about it. Who replaces AT&T as Tiger’s golf bag sponsor? Tiger Woods!

leave a comment »

AT&T’s loss doesn’t appear to be anybody’s gain this time around, as Tiger Woods has apparently decided to forego putting a new sponsor logo on his golf bag when he makes his much anticipated start at the Masters in a couple of weeks.

Instead of AT&T’s logo gracing the side of his giant bag toted by Steve Williams (is he still going to caddy for TW?), Woods will now have Nike’s “TW” logo plastered on the side. In other words, he’s going to be promoting Tiger Woods!

“We are not actively pursuing new business partnerships at this point in time,” Mark Steinberg, Woods’ agent at IMG, said Friday in a text message. Read the rest of this entry »

Tiger Woods: “Have you ever had a golden shower done to you”

with 3 comments

Right, well that’s a way to open up a post on Tiger Woods! I honestly couldn’t think of a better way to summarize the long list of “sexts” (if that’s what you call them) that were brought to light on porn star Joselyn James’ recently opened website earlier today. We all know James as one of Tiger’s many flings during his romp through a wide-range of woman from all walks of life, so there’s really no need to go into great detail on her life story.

James posted texts between her and Woods in an effort to do God knows what. I’d assume this was her way at getting back at Tiger for kicking her to the curb. The website, while slow and rather outdated, does have some serious NSFW texts that even had me feeling like I needed to take a long, cold shower. Read the rest of this entry »

Just who is this Tiger Woods guy?

JSuperAP

When Tiger Woods first stepped into the national and international spotlight back in 1997 after his historic victory at The Masters, Nike decided to capitalize on his recent fame by coming up with a phrase that’s been ingrained into our minds for the rest of our lives: I am Tiger Woods.

Like Michael Jordan’s “Be like Mike” Gatorade commercials, the Nike commercials with Tiger have become a part of sports history. We’ve seen Tiger grow up over the years; become the sport’s first billion-dollar athlete; as well as become the face of golf in every corner of the globe.

Everyone knows who Tiger Woods is. Or so we thought. Read the rest of this entry »

“It’s time to think about the worst year for majors. With the PGA to go, we’ve got Cabrera, Glover and Cink. Goes along with a recession.”

Sir Nick Faldo shot a 73 and will miss the cut, but he promises to do all he can for the little people. As long as they call him “Sir.”

The Jenkins Birdie of the Day will run on a daily basis during the week (M-F).
