Nike’s new Tiger Woods commercial should have everyone buzzing
Update: The commercial is now viral. Here’s the link if you want to check it out.
Tiger Woods’ opening round should have the whole world buzzing tomorrow but in between action on the course, there should have the masses talking about the game’s number one golfer as well.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Nike will air a new Tiger Woods commercial starting some time today. No big deal, right? After all, it was confirmed that Woods had been shooting a new one for Nike in his backyard. But this commercial may have a different tone compared to the ball-bouncing antics of Tiger commercials in the past.
The Journal learned that Tiger Woods’ late father, Earl Woods, will be the voice-over in the background of the ad saying, “I want to find out what your thinking was; I want to find out what your feelings are. Did you learn anything,” Earl says in the background.
The black and white ad should be pretty damn interesting. Ever since the accident, Woods has been a no-show in all of Nike’s commercials. It looks Nike’s going with the big topic right off the bat, foregoing the idea of easing Woods back into the marketing game.
You knew he’d be making a comeback in the advertising world at some point. It looks like this ad will mark the start.
