Who replaces AT&T as Tiger’s golf bag sponsor? Tiger Woods!
AT&T’s loss doesn’t appear to be anybody’s gain this time around, as Tiger Woods has apparently decided to forego putting a new sponsor logo on his golf bag when he makes his much anticipated start at the Masters in a couple of weeks.
Instead of AT&T’s logo gracing the side of his giant bag toted by Steve Williams (is he still going to caddy for TW?), Woods will now have Nike’s “TW” logo plastered on the side. In other words, he’s going to be promoting Tiger Woods!
“We are not actively pursuing new business partnerships at this point in time,” Mark Steinberg, Woods’ agent at IMG, said Friday in a text message.
That’s a little vain, don’t ya think? Here’s an idea: What if Tiger decided to go against self-promoting his own brand and decided to, say, put an ad on the side of his bag for a marriage counseling service or something that would make people say, ‘Wow, maybe Tiger’s changed!’
Yeah, I can’t see him doing that either. So go ahead and promote, promote, promote, oh god of the golf links! It won’t be long before you’re back on the course getting critiqued for that 8-footer you missed on 16.
I can’t wait for Thursday, March 19th to get here.
