Tiger Woods set to break silence Friday at PGA Tour headquarters

For those of us who’ve never had the distinct pleasure felt the pain of sitting through a Tiger Woods press conference before, allow us to let you in on a little secret about those so-called “pressers” where Mr. Woods is involved: They’re boring. No, scratch that. They’re REALLY boring.

Cookie-cutter answers for the press? Check. Ah-shucks comments about his most recent ‘Ranger Rick’ round? Check. Yep, Tiger Woods isn’t the best guy to interview when it comes to filing a story. He’d prefer to let his game do the talking, which it usually does.

But On Friday morning at 11 a.m., the world’s number on golfer will, for a couple of minutes, be part of the most interesting press conference we’ve ever seen. Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, confirmed his client will be giving a formal statement to a select media group at PGA Tour headquarters in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

“This is all about the next step,” Mark Steinberg, his agent, told The Associated Press. “He’s looking forward to it.” Read the rest of this entry »
