Harding Park tells Michael Jordan to stick his cigar where the sun don’t shine

Well this could get interesting. Just days before the United States and the International team face-off at Harding Park, the general manager of the city’s parks and recreations department is trying to throwing his own wrench in the whole process by throwing one of the best players in the sport off his game.

And, no, we aren’t talking about Tiger Woods.

Michael Jordan’s smoke rings are getting the attention of Harding Park, a course that had a city imposed smoking ban put in place back in 2007. While there are some people who are taking the high road and letting Jordan off the hook — the city attorney’s spokesman said he wouldn’t tell Jordan to stop smoking — and then there are those who won’t let the issue die.

“I’ve already sent an e-mail to the PGA Tour director,” Recreation and Park general manager Phil Ginsburg told the newspaper. “It was a gentle nudge reminding them that smoking is illegal and that we would appreciate their support.”

And what’s the fine that comes along with a smoking violation at Harding Park? Try a $100 slap on the wrist. I think Jordan has a couple of those bills collecting lint in the lining of his golf slacks. Read the rest of this entry »
