Tiger Woods gives Tim Finchem early birthday present with Buick Open commitment
Tim Finchem’s birthday was over three months ago, but apparently Tiger Woods is a big fan of giving belated presents to the commish. In a shock move that already has the rest of the golf world talking, Tiger Woods has decided to add the Buick Open to his schedule, thereby making it clear he’ll be playing three straight weeks.
The Buick event, which was discussed in a previous post yesterday, will be getting a huge shot in the arm when they need it most. If Buick’s really on the fence about returning as a sponsor next year, the thought of having their former spokesman at the event should keep them on the fence for the foreseeable future.
We all know what a Tiger event is like. It actually makes money. So the thought of the Buick Open getting Tiger back — he hasn’t played the Michigan event since 2006 — is one that should have them downright giddy. Not only that, it should allow them to make a killing in ticket sales.
This will mark the first time Tiger’s played three events in a row since 2007, when he played in three straight FedEx Cup events.
