Johnny Miller has some high expectation for Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods not only has the world of the game on his shoulders at the moment, he apparently also has Johnny Miller’s expectations to live up to as well! And we all know Johnny doesn’t accept anything than your absolute best, because if you do let him down, he will let you know about it on national television. We don’t want that.
I was reading about his comments over the weekend where he said that Tiger needed to be in contention throughout the week or win at Doral or the Woods Express could go off the tracks in a hurry.
Excuse me?!? Have we really gotten to the point where we expect Tiger to win every time he tees it up? The answer to that question is, yes, we do expect him to win when he tees it up; however, that was before his knee surgery. Does anyone really expect him to pick up a tournament win in his first stroke-play event? If you do, then you’re nuts.
Put it this way: If Tiger wins this weekend, it would be the equivalent to a sprinter tearing his ACL, walking back on the track a month before the Olympics and winning the Gold medal. The odds of something like that happening are slim to none.
So go easy on him, Johnny. Give the guy a couple of weeks to fine-tune the game before you start telling people that the “old Tiger Woods” has left the building. This game takes time, and it’s a good thing Tiger has that on his side.
